Obama For class president!!

In keeping up with this election season one thing has become abundantly clear to me, Republicans are at a distinct disadvantage in this election cycle because of the unique challenges that the country now faces. With the economy now at the forefront and millions of Americans clamoring for a resolution to this crisis we are now in a situation where the candidate who can promise to give away the most free stuff is poised to win. Generally this tactic has always been a staple of the Democratic party, after all nobody ever shot Santa Claus right? I mean heck if a guy can promise that 95% of Americans will receive a tax cut, -never mind the fact that 30-40% of Americans pay very little to no taxes-and no one, not even the Republican nominee for President will call him on it then the guy must be striking accord with his message.

I thought Senator McCain missed several opportunities to pound Obama on some of these absurd proposals. For example; Senator Obama repeatedly stated it's time to try and stimulate the economy with a bottom up approach. What does that mean?! I can't think of one example in the history of western civilization where this approach has ever worked. I can think of a few where it hasn't  though i.e. North Korea, Cuba and Russia. When Senator Obama promises that despite an economic crisis, a record deficit and billions of dollars per month being spent in Iraq and Afghanistan that he will give 95% of all Americans a tax cut why didn't Senator McCain pounce on this. Where is this money coming from Barack? Are the 30-40% of Americans that pay little to no taxes getting a check too Barack? What Senator Obama is doing is equivalent to a student running for class president on the promise of free pizza for everyone, no class on Friday oh and by the way the rich kids are paying for it! WHOO HOO! Where do I sign up?

If Barack Obama is elected because of absurd promises like these then you can mark Nov. 3 2008 down in your history books as the day Capitalism officially died in America. And you can blame House and Senate Republicans for allowing themselves to be shouted down and not shouting back.
